Beta 5 they said is certified, just wanting for the actual posting. We were told that beta 5 would become the release version.

That makes me WAY nervous...I'm not going to install 100 of these only to find out they 'tweaked a few things' in the final release

Especially the "speedy" way QT handles problems...

I have been spending much more time researching x-cart alternatives than worrying about fixing this mess. Anyone else doing the same? Any good results?

Phil, please don't discuss other carts here. This is a thread about how to handle the upcoming PCI regs - which affect ALL carts, so talking about jumping ship isn't helping anyone.

I understand your point. I am just totally frustrated with x-cart after being a loyal customer for 6 years

For what it's worth:

1) PHP 5.3 is a must for x-payments, adjust to that. X-payments wont install without it, it checks for this before installing.

2) Had x-cart 4.3.1 installed with a lot of mods already. Tried to upgrade to 4.3.2 and it screwed my template so I recovered the files to their original state from a backup. It still shows it's version 4.3.2 in the patch area but I think that's just because of one file in the root showing that version. Basically, a 4.3.1 cart that shows 4.3.2. Regardless, although I was scared to upgrade to PHP 5.3.2, there were zero problems with it, ALL MODS worked fine afterwards. "If it were me" and I was running a 4.1.x cart, I'd upgrade to 4.3.1 or 4.3.2 first, and THEN upgrade to PHP 5.3.2.

3) Installation of x-payments - this took awhile to figure out. The basic x-payments module is easy to install provided you meet standards above. What they don't tell you very clearly is that you need to install the x-connector thing as well.

4) Configuring x-payments - another "weak" area in the instruction manual. It's not hard, but you also have to configure the x-connector through the modules section as well, they work hand-in-hand. This connector thing has keys that need to be pasted into it from stuff you generate in x-payments. That isn't really spelled out very well in the manual, but now you know.

The good news is, if you manage to wing your way through all of that, it works really good. Plus, you'll have an upgraded cart, the newer stuff in 4.3 branch is really nice. If you want to stick to 4.1.x or whatever because it "works" for you, I understand but at the same time you can't really complain when things don't work out for you if you didn't keep up with the times. Yeah, the deadline is near, but I've been reading about this for 6 months here and I had it installed and working over a week ago. The beta 5 works, and works well.

OK - Starting to do the install. In looking at the config file, I notice this:
[proxy]

proxy :: Proxy server to send http/https requests (used by cURL).
The entry must have the format: username:password@host:port

Umm...Not sure really what I am supposed to put in here...

In the actual file it says:
[proxy]
; ---------------------------------
; Proxy parameter:
; * username:password@host:port
; * username:password@host
; * username@host
; * username@host:port
; * host:port
; * host
;
; ---------------------------------

proxy=

I am confused...

Nothing for proxy - Unless you have one (I did not)

Make sure you wrap data entered in "" example host ="localhost"
