Currently this what I have planned for the phone ordering system.

1) Ability to subtract or add to product price (including options).
2) Phone ordering login area for Sales Reps.
3) Cart will perform as a normal customer for the Sales Rep.
4) Sales rep. area will contain custom tools such as shipping calculator, customer lookups and sku and product title search bar to quickly move to the product in question.
5) Sales rep name tracking in the order to keep track of number of sales the representative is doing.
6) 4.0.x and 3.5.x compatible.

I'm going to try and keep the modification as self contained as possible to keep from any future headaches when it comes time to upgrade X-Cart. However adjusting product prices on the fly and tracking sales rep id will require modification to X-Cart base code in order to function.

No relative cookies are written to the clients browser during checkout. So a sales rep. mimicing a customers entry will not be a problem. No sense re-inventing the wheel.

Basic steps of the process:

1) Sales rep logins into area and is presented with a simple screen with a user lookup, product search and shipping calculator.
2) Sales rep takes a call and finds out the customers name or email, looks his information up via the area, if a customer already exists either a link or his user/password will be visible to the sales rep to then login to the customer side of the cart.
3) Sales rep finds product either via customer area or rep area, negotiates pricing and makes adjustments if necessary. Adds item(s) to cart and proceeds checkout just like the customer would. Choosing Phone for payment method.
4) Order Id is provided to the customer and invoices are sent. Sales rep that entered the customers info is tracked and visible in the admin/provider area.

Thoughts/suggestions?

Looks good B00M.

I would recommend letting a couple of us Beta test it prior to full release.

I would be more than happy to pay the full purchase price when a Beta is available.

Sounds great.

I have a couple questions...

During #3, 'Phone' is chosen for payment method and the on #4, the 'Order ID' is provided to the customer and an invoice is sent to them. Would this mean the credit card number is not taken over the phone and entered by the Sales rep? I would think this is necessary. Have I got this wrong?

Also, the customer email address must be made optional as many phone orders will come from people without email accounts.

And one more...will it be possible to add any custom fields to the checkout area that we may already using? We will have a 'Delivery Date' field with a javascript calendar for customers to select the date they want to receive the order. Will we be able to integrate this into this add-on as well?

Thanks

Default negotiated prices

Is it really necessary to be able to change the prices of individual items? It seems like overkill to me - creating a lot of work form boomer!
How about being able to add a coupon 'on-the'fly' for an order managed by a sales rep?
That way when the invoice arrives the customer is also reminded that they got a special deal by seeing the discount as a separate line item - always good sales practice!

I think this would be credit card or check. If customer pays by credit card, then it will process right away. If customer pay by check, then the order status goes to queued.

Good plan Boomer, you have my support.

I would think instead of changing product pricing on the fly. which means it would have to be customizations to xcart.

You include a discount for that one specific order.

Would that help make this more independent?? Using the already built in discount functionality?
