Limiting Number of Products in Single Purchase

I have been going through the code this afternoon in the cart.php file.

I was looking around around line 345 onwards. My approach was to look at the MIN_AMOUNT field and try and work in a new field MAX_AMOUNT. However things dont seem to be that simple.

There seems to be 3 sections in the Update Quantity part that loop through the contents of the cart, each time reading data from teh data base, This seems a waste to me and causes extra overhead on the database that could be consolidated into one loop. Ive sort of given up as this was one section would need to check the section for adding an item as well.

My vote is to pop a request in the wishlist section to get this on the list of future required features.

I guess this hasn't made it into xcart 4.1...at least i didn't see it. Quite a shame. I quoted this mod, but at the time decided it wasn't worth it. If we decide to go ahead with it, I'll for sure share it.

We have the same problem.

We're creating a store for a winery that is legally limited to shipping 24 bottles of wine per order (any combination). However, they also have some non-wine products on their site that would not be part of this total.

By looking at the earlier script change (from 3.x), is there anything in it that might muckup 4.0.18 or 4.1?

I'm looking into this too. Our local DHL only allows a maximum of 6 (might be able to slip in eight) product type per order. Say 6 products of soap, 6 products of lotion, etc.

I initially looked into cart.php and it may seem a little easy. I'll make some tests and give you guys feedback. If anyone wants this solution, post here.

I'll basically add a new field in the database, max_amount and add code similar to where min_amount can be located.

This seems like a necessary feature. I thought it was to be released in the 4.1 version. I am very interested.

Hi,
I asked X-Cart to price this for me...putting a Max number of items next to the Min number of items for each product...they quoted me $87 to do the Mod....I have not bought it yet as I need it so rarely I was hoping someone else would get it and post it in the completed mod section... Hint Hint
