Prior to updating the template via the Update process in X-Cart, when a new version of (for example) #42 Clothing template is announced, I would like to be able to obtain a Unified Diff of the changes, so I can go over my own personal module modifications to it in advance of applying the update, to ensure that things go smoothly and remain compatible internally, as well as seeing what changed.

Aside from obtaining a diff post-update, how else might this be managed?

Your update process does not have a mechanism within the admin side web interface whereby one may individually view changelogs for the various modules (or x-cart itself) prior to updating them.

But in particular, with Templates affecting the look and feel of the store, we would greatly appreciate a method whereby this could be accomplished.

I know this is the answer you are looking for and not ideal but for right now the only way I can see is if you pack the module yourself and compare
1. So before upgrade pack the module and save on local machine
2. Run the upgrade
3. Pack the upgraded module and save on local machine
4. Compare the 2 packages.

Of course do not do this on live site but a copy. And of course do not upgrade anything else but the module in question.

yeah, that was what I was afraid of. We are already utilizing a separate devel server, so it's somewhat less of an issue, but still an issue.

Where is the best place for me to file an RFE for a future xcart-release for this -- I would really like to see this feature in x-cart.

Wordpress has it, but only for modules, not themes (also something I have a problem with) but the way they provide changelogs for modules prior to upgrading, is a good example of how I would like to see it done, but also having diffs as well as a handwritten changelog, would be of enormous benefit.
