It's no different than those that were railing against MicroSoft packaging IE with Windows which was settled in court.

The difference although is Microsoft allowed you to use another browser.
X-Cart clearly does not offer a choice.

I am not sure what do you mean by

You have the choice to use the service or not, noone is forcing you to use it. You also have the choice to buy another fraud prevention module or custom code one or hire someone to code/integrate one for you.

You can't possible expect that XC will include everything that is out there so you can select from it. As long as this service is not mandatory to use XC I don't see it as a problem or being a scam.

In the case of MS they had, and still have by the way, IE build into the core of the system which made it imposible to remove thus forcing you to use IE. And you are still forced to use IE in Win systems if you want to get auto updates - MS does not work with any other browser. IE is still shipped with every Win system as an integral part of the system
