Default ongoing upgrade blues

well I had to scrap another site to be able to upgrade to 5.3xx

They will blame the servers, everyone else has bad servers- but when doing a fresh install of the latest version it all works good.

X-Cart suffers from the Alfa Romeo syndrome.

Its looks good in the parking lot but try starting one in the middle of winter - no luck.

Maybe you guys should start working on your future updates on our terrible North American servers and solve all on going upgrade issues.

Still like the Cart just tired of having to kill properly working installs just to upgrade.

Steve still no responses needed.

Upgrades can certainly be accomplished without scrapping your site. We perform upgrades for clients all the time. I recommend NginX server configurations for performance.

can you explain why on some installs the html option for parts and pages and categories does not appear - all I get a text spaces but not box headers to allow me to add a picture - last time that happened I again have to scrap a site.

I tried redeployment a few times and was not successful.

Are you and Steve partners - just wondering.

I think the correct term is tool bars - the tools bars for the product, categories and content pages do not appear.

So with all web based software you need an experienced developer to help when it either has a bug, or you want some custom change to be made. I don't care what platform you use, it will only be as good as your developer and their level of experience. You never need to scrap a site. You just need to get whatever is wrong fixed. Scrapping a site is like dropping your car off at the junkyard because the battery went dead. Instead you take it to a mechanic.

Nope, we are competitors, but we are very friendly and respectful of each other. Both of us have been working on this stuff for a long time.

Or I could just turn on the Froala WYSIWYG editor integration.

Boom! Solved.

It seems that it is when you make large jumps in versions that problems occur. I've been upgrading every time a new version comes out without nary a problem for quite some time, I just went from 5.3.2.5 to 5.3.2.6 smoothly.

I see why it would be really smooth.

Click a button, it goes through the 13 steps in about 45 seconds and then it's upgraded. What's not smooth about that?
