Default Looking for a Layaway Mod - Does one exist?

Would love to install a layaway mod. It seems we are getting more and more requests for them now that credit card rates are going higher and higher.

Something that reserves the inventory and allows customers to log in and make payments as often as they like and when it is paid for, moves the order to processed. While payments are being made, it should be in a "layaway status" allowing us to pull reports on all items in layaway. Also, weekly or bi-weekly emails should be sent reminding person to make payment. We should also be able to set the layaway time between payments and an expiration time.

Does anyone know of anything like this?

Michael

We've been asked a small handful of times. I've not seen one either. If you want to drop us an email, Michael, with the details on the features you'd like to see we could consider it. The biggest question that initially pops into my mind is how to handle the incremental payments with so many different payment systems out there. Might be why one has not been made yet.

You also get into PCI compliance issues if you store CC numbers. There are very strict rules about storage of CC numbers that most store owners either do not know or do not follow.

Thanks,

Carrie

I don't think we ever got any email request for this that I can remember. If anyone interested in it would email us with the features they'd like to see we can then decide what features are the most popular and evaluate making this module for the most recent versions of X-cart.

Thanks,

Carrie

Carrie did something ever materialize here? I am interested in one as we are manually managing payment orders now.

We never had anyone emails and let us know they were interested.

One thing you'd have to consider is how to implement subsequent payments for PCI compliance. We could bundle it with our CIM module to do that but it would be a good bit of hours. If we had several committed to using the CIM and this module we could build it.

Thanks,

Carrie

As you know I emailed you on this the other day. I think it would be sufficient if someone could check out online and then go back to the order and add "payments" to the cart. Then the order would show the individual payments to the order and the balance. We would want to configure it for minimum initial payment amount to be collected at time of ordering, and then define a time frame for payment reminder emails to be sent. It should all be automatic really. Then we get notified when the order is completely paid.
