I have asked the qualiteam where to find the config..php file as they have modified my admin so only certain IP addresses can login. My IP address for home however has changed as it is not static.
Their answer to where to find it is this - "config.php" file located in the x-cart directory
TO me that is like saying 'there is the haystack go find the needle'
Could any lovely knowledegeable people be a little more specific so I can find this file

I think you are just dealing with the language barrier. When they say the x-cart directory, they mean the home directory of your store.

If your store is located at http://mysite.com then that is the directory that config.php is in. If your store is at http://mysite.com/store then that is where it is, get the picture?

The only thing that is confusing sometimes to my clients, is that some hosts will let you log in with ftp to a higher directory than the root of your site. When I log in to my linux server, I have to go to var/www/vhosts/mysite.com/httpdocs to be at the root of the website.

thanks so much for the quick reply. I do apologise but I am the absolute novice. So is this in the xcart admin area or do I find it in the cpanel area.

You can see only template files form within XC admin. To see the whole XC directory structure and files you need to either use FTP client or you can login to the cPanel and use the file manager
