Adding one line (title or extra field) at top of page, how?
I know this has got to be a pretty simple edit, but I can't figure out how. My goal is to have a 3 or 4 word title, or the full title of the item if needed to show up in a larger font size (about 20pt to 24pt) at the very top of the page of a particular item. I know it might sound ugly, but a competitor does it and has #1 rankings on almost all of his listings. With over 2000 items and growing, I can't enter them manually with html (for the catalog). Any help is greatly appreciated. I'd like to use <H1> tags if possible. Thanks.

Search engines don't base their rankings on font size. If you use a <h1> tag for your title, you can use CSS to make the size of the <h1> tag look normal. Just put this line in your css file:
h1 {font-size: 12px;} (or use whatever font size you want). 24pt text is not only ugly, it won't do anything for you! You can surround the product title with an <h1> tag if you really want.

Thanks. I read over at http://forums.seochat.com (a site about google seo) in a thread awhile ago (don't have it) that a larger font toward the top of the page can help in ranking. You certainly would know better then me, and I appreciate any advice. But I also noticed on seochat's forums, they too have a large font at the top of all their forums pages (although it's just topic titles, but still large) and these pages have good ranking (although, they are talking about google), but still peeked my curiousity.

They are probably formatted with a header tag, and the webmaster doesn't know how to shrink it Header tags definitely make a difference, plain old large fonts don't.
