One item to note is that /forach should be /foreach. But this code really depends on where you are trying to use it. $products[extra_fields] is only available when you have a list of products such as products.tpl and products_t.tpl. If you are trying to get this information on an individual product page then the array is $extra_fields:
Code:
{section name=field loop=$extra_fields} {if $extra_fields[field].service_name eq "ISBN"} {$extra_fields[field].field}: {$extra_fields[field].value} {/if} {/section}

Thank you this worked, although there is one correction I had to make. To display the extra field value the code is:
Code:
{$extra_fields[field].field_value}

Thanks again for the quick response this really helps a lot.

That would be the other code that uses the $products[product].extra_field array.

I've found that for the most part, it appears to be stable, no major bugs, but again, that usually depends on the user, the server environment, etc.

Your decision may depeond on your need for 3rd party mods. Many (most) are not 4.1 compatible (yet) and many (most) developers have announced that until 4.1 is declared "stable" they will not spend any time porting over the mods.

As much as I want the speed bump and the new features of 4.1, my need to customize the store and have it be "solid and stable" outweigh any new feature...

Only you can decide if you need the mods vs. 4.1 features vs. "stability" -- and if the store seems stable in testing, but it dies under load, what good is that?

Default upgrading to 4.1.2

HI,

so if i go with stable 4.0xx in peoples opinion how much work would it be to upgrade to 4.1.xx when it becomes stable?

someone mentioned there is a lot of work involved in upgrading and if so what's involved?

thank you.

Other than importing your products and pictures, you'll need to start over from scratch.

How many minor tweaks have you made to your store?
Have you documented or commented out every change?
How many 3rd party mods have you installed?

I am trying to do a minor upgrade from 4.0.18 to .19 and I am having difficulty -- I can't IMAGINE what's involved going to 4.1.x -- I will probably pay xcart to do this for me - but only after EVERY mod that i use is updated.

No matter what you do, backup, backup, backup... you can always restore to what you had.

Try this -- install a virgin 4.0.x, then "upgrade" to 4.1.2 -- I haven't tried this -- but I'm sure if you're interested, it's worth attempting, just to learn the process.
