I've talked with Boomer about this and we've decided for me to do it.

Please keep the ideas/requirements coming and hopefully we can make this an even better mod that the Customer Reward Points mod. Your input really helped make that mod what it is and I really appreciated the feedback.

Please note that this won't happen overnight unfortunately, but I will try to get it done as quickly as possible while keeping the quality high.

Although I am sure not all will require this, it is something we would like to see, and that is the ability for when a phone order is placed, a Packing Slip can be printed for the warehouse as well as an Invoice for the customer. XCart fail to give any kind of packing slip in their program which, although is an easy addition, is something that really needs to be there.
For Phone order, or in fact if this could be used as a POS system, i.e. as a sort of till for ordering when a customer walks in the store then a Packing Slip would be a must!

Do you have plans for this to be a Phone Ordering system only, or could it be used as a POS, like a till (cash register for the US)

Actually, I was originally approached to do a POS system with X-cart. So this will be a POS and Phone ordering system as I think the main features of both really cross over between the two.

I plan to make the interface really simple, and quick to place orders. Any thoughts on the best way to approach this would be appreciated. The more you guys specify the better I can taylor to everyone's needs.

One last question for now, and I know it is early days, but do you have a timeline on it yet for completion, based on what you feel it will take now.

My goal is 1.5-2 months to complete coding and testing. But I also have to keep up with work that is now scheduled through June! We have expanded our company and have 3 more people working for us doing various tasks. So I believe we will be able to keep that goal. I will keep you guys updated in this thread.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents. We would LOVE for something like this.

I was just thinking that this could use a place to enter customer notes and (ideally) make them visible. I know that this is a weak point in x-cart, but maybe there would be a place in this mod to help overcome this (depending on how you plan on designing it).

Please, please, please make this compatible with the points system as well as Jon's ez mods.

I am not sure how you are interfacing with the check out process, but these other mods will be affected I am sure.

And as usual, I will be wathcing this as I think this would also be a good addition to our store.

There were also some really good points mentioned earlier in this thread about options and for those that utilize the barcode system, shan offered his bar code mod to incorporate into this for use as a POS system. I am sure there would be those that would use this as the main checkout process in stores even if the barcode was in it. Something to think about I guess.
