![]() Steve, I've got your point about license policy. However, X-Cart is still the software with onetime fee for lifetime license, free upgrade-packs and free access for the new version of the software.
I do not know any other product with these conditions. Really. If Qualiteam thought only about money and ignored license policy we announced paid upgrades several years ago. Paid upgrades are very logical, it guarantees that company always has funds and resources to release new versions, but we still continue providing our customers with regular free updates and new versions.

![]() Xcart - get your act together. Your pissing off a lot of people. This license crap is a mistake and voids previous agreements. Since you do business in the US The FTC MAY need to step in. It's crap. Your losing your existing customers for the hopes of future sales. I've built over 20 stores and now your making it nearly impossible to deal with you. Why...greed....what? All your doing is pushing people to other platforms who will speak ill of XCart. Reputation is everything. Other platforms are ready soliciting forum members and to be honest, it may be worth investigating since XCart does not stand behind or honor their past agreements that people paid money for.

Maxim, the point is you can't change a license agreement after the point it was agreed (i.e. sale was made) - this is not binding, ethical nor fair trade practice. So as Steve pointed out the rule was one database (not one shop) at our time of purchase. What you are trying to do with this underhanded attempt to change licencing rules issue, gravely concerns every x-cart owner and questions QT's integrity as a company (as well as the future viability of using the platform and any association with software from your company for existing customers). Cheers - Asiaplay PS: it is absurd as a customer suggesting that now X-Cart has to offer free live technical support for their stores & server now (i.e. as a change in the license agreement!) Really." - there currently are quite a few who do and have a great product - however this is not the point which is at issue here!

![]() We'll I bit the bullet and upgraded a license of mine from xcart gold to xcart gold plus, I changed the domain to the new domain that I wanted to use. For some reason I an getting an web address error message when trying to verify the cart installation. I went to try and change the domain name and they want $95.00 for an address change that used to be free. I wanted to change it from http://xxxx.com to www.xxx.com.
Now that is pretty low that we own the license, but have to pay to change the domain that it points to, when it is an automatic process. I was going to purchase a few mods for the store, but now I am going to think twice about it.

![]() One database - is the criteria which can be simply checked. That's why we used it. Meanwhile we never promised free domain change. We always understood that one license for one single show.
Yes, it was our mistake to allow domain change when several users asked us about this. It was OK, since only server users asked this. However, when a lot of customers use the same licenses for new and new shops we cannot allow it due to the initial point of license policy: one license for single shop. So, we didn't change licence policy. Moreover we agree to change domain for free if it is still the same shop, I wrote it about it. Just contact us. Even more, if it is new shop we also agree to change domain for free one time.

I am we clearly agree on the one database part of the discussion. In regards to the license... Opps - so your support staff did clarify to customers directly that licenses could be transferred free of charge (likewise, as was the one database issue to myself)! I also think you are trying to simplify things... There are two other things you need to take into consideration in relation to this discussion (and before making a final decision):- a) For over a decade license holders were allowed to change their licenses free of charge, as many times as they wanted to - this implies that contractually that this was therefore allowed and how licensing was treated and this is clearly how every customer understood the liense was offered! (and this is actually how the feature was coded by QT into the help desk, for customers to use i.e. it shows clear intent!) b) You never restricted the license not being transferable and in fact, even when a license was sold / transferred to a 3rd party the license were also readily able to be changed free of charge. c) What did your customers understand that the licensing considerations were over the last decade (and some at least before purchasing)? So clearly there is intent and precedence here from a contractual perspective - yes??? Cheers - Asiaplay PS: Why I never commented on the recent change to x-payments licenses, is as this was an add-on product which was offered free to x-cart users (so taking it away if not being used, although a bit like having a present taken back, was not illegal in terms of contract licensing i.e. no consideration was given by your customers for that product who got given a license free of charge based on an existing product they owned - so it is more of a good-will or bad-will issue to both parties)!
