Select to display display Variant Images as Detail Image thumbs below the main product image on the product page

So... about sending me a working copy? The install that you did for me and I paid for are still calling a blank popup when clicking on the variant image.

They are still not swapping...

Some of you have asked for a demo of this mod. I have taken that opportunity to redo that section of our site using X-Cart and am using the mod in the store. You can find the X-Cart Dynamic Image Generator v4.1 at this location now:

This seems to be something that is specific to IE 7 and has to do with the security level settings. I have tested the links below that you gave and they work great in Firefox and IE6 but in IE7 with the security set to Meduim I get the errors.

I am not sure what might be on the page that is causing it. I will dig deeper into it.

I am working on a solution to the IE7 issue and will post an update shortly. If you view my demo page and it is working now then I am close to solving it.

As for your other error - Fatal error: Call to undefined function: imagegif() - this means that you have an old version of GD compiled on your server that does not support GIF images. GIF image support was added back in around 2005 I think. You need to get your host to update your version of GD.

That is a very old version of GD. Gif support was added back to GD in 2004 (just looked it up) with version 2.0.28. For comparison, the current version is 2.0.34.

Something to consider also as to why you received that error with all .JPG images - being familiar with the industry that you are doing this site for, it has happened before that I have received .JPG images from manufacturers and they were in fact just renamed .GIF files.

In either case, if you get your host to update your GD library you will be ahead of the game.

Not sure if this makes a difference but the images loaded for the particular product which is causing this error are in JPG and not .gif.

In your instance, the easiest thing to do would be to upgrade PHP. Actually this is preferable to trying to install the libraries yourself. PHP has GD bundled as part of the distribution. You will need to be running at least PHP 4.3.9 to have "write" support for GIF files.


I know that Plesk 8.2.1 comes with at least PHP 4.3.9 - again, this is something that you might approach your host about if you are not familiar with recompiling PHP or upgrading Plesk...

I am not cleared about one thing. In my case the detailed images are variants images. When click on them, what will happen? They replace the main image like the built-in drop down do? Will they also swap pricing? Or will they behave like on your site and call up the lightbox, without any further action?

Is there a way to generate the cache automatically for all products at once instead of clicking on each one of them? That process takes a long time to generate and makes the site appear slow.
