Default Found a bug in RC2

If i want to edit multi languages for category discription, HTML TAGS and Codes are NOT saved, the wysiwig editor and standard editor do only save plain text and removes all the HTML.

BUG REPORT for the Xcart guys.

I didn't know any other way to report bugs about RC2

Default cart issue in RC2

I have added a monthly subscription product to cart, and found a bug.

The cost is бё2.50. And I have clicked buy now, it shows бё2.50 to pay, thats fine.

I then click contine shopping because i want something else, now when i look in the mini-cart, it shows the amount in mini-cart as бё7.75!!!

Now when you click your cart, it shows бё2.50 again, okay how is this possibly worked out?

There is no possible way бё7.75 will be charged is there? As there is no shipping etc or additional charges, so this must be an error.

Default found another bug

If one has product options and/or variants all with the same price the SAVE MONEY label shows up.

It says SAVE 0%

If you don't save anything in my opinion the label should not show up at all.

Just a bug report for the Xcart guys.

regards,
Herman

It would be nice If X-cart would Create a Forum Specifically for Beta Testing and also Have a methode for Cataloging Feature requests and BUGS!! And show witch one are being worked on or wont be considered.... I have done lots of beta testing and you guys always have me shaking my head. Heck I bet it would be a great idea to package all your custom mods that you do for customers and resell them as modules. I guess you can't charge $/hour for something you already built.

OOhhh wait we are talking about X-cart Never Mind. Hire a business consultant you guys have all the right ideas in your product just sloppy excecution. After 3 years and little to No change in aspects of your company and product that people have been complaining about for 3 years now thats sad because somone else will eventually take over....

I will say its nice to see the slow steady improvement and the focus on Performance. (X-cart has a reputation for being slow)

Sorry I give you guys a hard time I know you work hard!
X-cart is still the best out of box solution I have seen.
Its just so easy to imagine a better product!

The greater part of bug reports we get comes from our clients who contact us directly via the HelpDesk. We appreciate that.

We always examine all bug reports very carefully. But, I should mention it again, NO new features, as well as NO major improvements to X-Cart 4.1.0 will be made after the release of RC1. We have a large number of clients who have suggestions about what features must be there in X-Cart, some of the suggestions are really good ones, but you shoud understand that we cannot put all of them in 4.1.0. The development of 4.1.0 cannot continue endlessly.

fair enough but ...

many people are just asking for existing features to work how you imagine they should and that all the simple things are fixed before a final release.

Having a beta forum where we could discuss features and be told yes or no would be useful i think. There are just as many people who see problems and work around them every day who DONT report things via the members area. Ive created lists each time that you never know what has been taken on board and what has not.

There are so many little things that add up to be a pain when you have to deal with them every day.

heres a simple one

look how much code gets used to create the menu.tpl and dialog.tpl

another.. look how ugly that 'your order is being processed' page looks

another, get rid of the
at the end of each menu. no need to waste space on the page

another.. thumbnail in the cart page takes no notice of the thumbnail size set in admin. why set a size and not use it globaly

take you 2 minutes each and make such a difference. I know it takes me 2 minutes each every time I have to set up a new store for a client and I know each time I see a site that hasnt had these fixes i think how bad it looks.

next look at the code for making buttons. surely that could be simplified. why do we need full buttons and then go buttons ?

BEFORE a final release lets have a round of simply cleaning things up. Doing things that in no way effect function so wont cause any problems but will banish all the niggly bits forever.

I cant even be bothered to mention that there is no reason to have the product ID show in the product title on the product details page. If it were the sku then i could see some logic but the product ID is only used in the code and end users have no idea what its there for.

Again hate to moan becuase I love xcart but there are many times when i hate it too

As this will be a database only upgrade then you have the golden oportunity to do what you like with the files as everyone will be starting over with the design. Once this release goes public we stuck in the next rounds of upgrades for another 12-18 months

it would be such a shame to move forward to a new branch and still be plagued by the same old things

Have to agree with shan there, the small niggles have been there far far too long especially given the major branch releases.

Theres so many silly things left in x-cart someone over there needs to do a proper clean up, theres little point in compiling the same posts time and time again, some basic requests are borderline 2 years old and several major releases down the line.

I understand your point, Shan. And I see our mistake with publishing 4.1.0 on the stage of beta testing. We should have published it on the alpha stage to allow you, the forum members, and all the other X-Cart users to make suggestions about the ways in which the software can be improved. That way we could implement many more useful things into X-Cart while the development stage was still under way. Unlike alpha, beta is a release with a feature set that is almost complete, so, when we published 4.1.0 beta, it mainly needed intesive testing, not suggestions of improvements.

After the release of X-Cart 4.1.0 beta, however, X-Cart development team was deluged with thousands of feature requests ranging from minor to serious. We did include some of them in the beta 2 and the release candidates. But, as I have already mentioned in my previous post, development of 4.1.0 cannot continue endlessly, so many of the valuable requests are being left unresolved. This does not mean we are ignoring them - our development plan is built wholely on our clients' requests. We will consider them in the future major releases.

I appreciate your help and all the things you are doing as a moderator, as well as I appreciate the work of Balinor. Your insight has already helped us overcome a lot of issues and I hope you will keep posting your useful suggestions on this forum.

Hi Svowl,

Thanks for acknowledging the posts... thats a start...

Only today we see the release of RC3 with the addition of X-Zoom or something. A new feature / development....

But we dont see that any of the points raised above have been looked at or resolved. people are not saying things for the good of their health (well maybe their mental health anyway)

Thats the whole point of my post.

I dont see why upgrade patches are being released for a beta release. No one should be using a beta release for anything more then having a look and testing. By supplying upgrade patches you are more or less saying that nothing changed from the way 4.0 was released apart from the name. Where we used to have 4.0.0 4.0.1 4.0.2 etc we now have RC1 RC2 RC3 and then we just start back at 4.1

by encouraging people to install and then upgrade you shoot yourself in the foot again because you have to worry about every tiny change you make.

I thought the whole idea was giving you the freedom to change what you like before the final release. What your saying now is that you are locked in some self imposed boundaries that make it so you can fix things and will release 4.1 along with all the things that drive people round the bend and that we can live with them for another 18 months

This mistake was made with 4.0

it becomes very disheartening

It goes to markwhoo's point in the other thread, by releasing 'upgrade patches' they are bound to get some noobies to use this and then get support points or custom work out of them.

You are right Shan, no upgrade patches should be made, what a waste of time. Take the time the developers are using on making upgrade patches on beta releases and friggin fix the crap we all have been complaining about for 2 YEARS!
