Still no GD Lib or Imagemajikimage processing.

having to manually do images for every product is a waste of everyones time.

Yes, I truely agree with you. Some kind of IMAGE PROCESSING is needed for the thumbnails. I am annoyed the X-Cart are NOT listening to our needs and going off on their own "tangent" so to speak.

They are Russian and know better than everyone else. It worked really well for the former Communist government, so why not do the same?

We really like much of what X-Cart provides but are not comfortable committing all our sites because we feel they do not listen to their customers and and are likely to soon be challenged or surpassed by other solutions.

Yes. Exactly. Companies that think they know best and not listen to their customers usually end up loosing them.

The thing is, a purchaser of shopping cart software should not have to spend their time "modding" it. It should contain all the features they need. X-Cart development is moving TOO slowly.

In response to your russian comment btw, not true, us british know best! :P

Anyone know how far along 4.1 stable is at point of rc1? I haven't located a thread regarding the development schedule, so I am clueless in terms of when the 4.1 will be stable.

It will be a while still. 4.0 wasn't considered 'stable' until 4.0.12....

Don't spread that Communist BS...

You can do most of the requested modifications yourself with Smarty easily...

Show me another shopping cart script with similar functions, powerful template engine (and price)... The "other solutions" all suck one way or another...

- Ouch.... So if you were to have a client ready to do a shopping cart now, would you wait for the new stable version of 4.1, even if you don't plan to take advantage of any of the new features? The cart's template is going to get hacked pretty good. I really have no idea of the timeframe here, and don't know if X-Cart has a clue either. Weeks? Months? Half a year? Any estimate at all? I figured the first thing to be asked is, "How much longer until it is finished?"

- Nobody here wants to dicuss your rants in an announcement thread titled "X-Cart 4.1.0 rc1 released". It takes so much time to go through a thread that contains a bunch of BS/off topic posts.

I would not even consider 4.1 for a new site right now, it just isn't worth the gamble not knowing when it will be stable.

And yes, please keep the discussion in this thread to the topic at hand. There is a nice little forum called Rants & Raves if you want to bitch & complain. This thread is about debugging and improving the existing functions of 4.1, not to complain about what is missing or pontificating about the future of X-Cart.
