Adding ability sort by date

The BCSE mod doesn't sort by date by default. Other than that it is the same as the mod in this thread, except for the "added" features.

BTW, I'm pretty sure the problem is with recommends.php. I switched out recommends.php with bestsellers.php and the error disappears. I'm wondering if I can somehow combine bestsellers and recommends and come up with a "recommended products" that is a little less random. Oh well, something for another day.

What's interesting is these sites (http://the-lilypad.com/store/product.php?productid=952 & http://thedigichick.com/shop/product.php?productid=18134)
appears to have the Date sort & the Recommended Products working?

The 4.0.x version of x-cart sorte4d by date by default. That was one of the changes made with the 4.1.x version. I don't know why they did that but they did. Perhaps it was the "recommends" problem. Anyway, its possible those sites are using 4.0.x versions of x-cart.

The "Default" display order option of V4.1 will display products in the order of POS, meaning the position as defined in the product sheet. That is probably the easiest way to display products the way you want them to appear: you change their position(s).

Well, it may be the "easiest" but sort by add date is not one of the options.

Hi,

I have the BCSEngineering Sort module installed, but it does not work for admin and I seem to have lost the control on the the "General Settings" . No matter which choice is saved, the order of display does not change in the customer's side or admin. I also seem to have no control as to how the products display in the admin when searching. The results are random, sometimes alphabetical in regular order, sometimes reversed order.
Making adjustments to several products is a nightmare in admin and for the customer, no matter how many new products are added the landing page in Categories is always the same. Not a great experience if you are a returning customer.

Can I use this module if I have the BCSE one installed? I would love to be able to see the products in admin and landing pages in reversed chronological (newest first) by default.

A sort by option in admin is really missing in x-cart, making batch product management very difficult to do. The site is not large enough for inventory uploads and I would not even know how to start on that.
