Hi,

We are look for a way to change our default view on certain sub-categories. We have a browse by model category which is a page of brand logos, we then want sub category 1 to be in a list as default with no thumbnails, but then sub-category 2 to revert back to thumbnails showing the products available for subcategory 1.

Is this possible? I know the list format can be clicked, but we want it to be a default for all customers as the amount of sections in sub 1 looks very messy with thumbnails.

I think this is very possible. Perhaps just a module that adds a checkbox on the category page, allowing you to toggle "display in list".

So, you should take condition from the first mod and define list type depending on this condition.

Do you think this would be a good addition as a default option when creating categories?

It depends on how often you create categories. Do you often create them?

We have an expanding catalog, not just for us, i think it would be a good feature for anyone, having list as a default cleans big categories up and makes the site look a lot neater.

Back to the problem and the steps you said to solve it. I followed the steps to create the module, but upon resetting cache the store gets stuck on step 6 of 11. I deleted the created module and did the cache again and it got the store out of maintenance mode. Any idea why the store keeps getting stuck?

1) Do you have any error messages in the <X-Cart>/var/log/ folder? If so, please send them to me.
2) In order to reset the cache rebuilding process please follow the instruction here:
