Sort products in category

Is there an option to sort by Newest first in the category products display for XC5?

I was also looking for such option so I bought the mode

Above mod has got some nice features to sort the products on category page apart from "sort by date".

But that mods have lots of bugs. I contacted BCSE & they gave me option to deposit $$$ & if the bug will confirmed by their team I will get the refund for the same. This offer does't look valid to me so I contacted the Steve & he removed the bugs for me at the cost of few dollars.
After installing the mod I found 1 more bug. Now it does not display new arrival list on product category page ! Steve is currently very busy with his own projects so I am not able to use this mode even though it's available at very good price.

I guess in the past I found one customization to display newest products first on category page. Please try to search the forum.

Both are quite old mods if you can manage to tweak the code.

I see the sort newest first in your store setup, cart & checkout. The option Default order sort products within category, you can choose from Recommended, newest First, by price an by name.

The only thing I don't see is a sort by SKU, it would be nice to have that one, or even better a sort order number inside the product.

The sort by SKU could be a useful option. You can suggest and vote for the idea at http://ideas.x-cart.com/ - when choosing features for new X-Cart 5 versions the dev team considers votes given there for improvement ideas.

As for the sort order number inside the product. How should it work? It looks like the "Default" sort option is the one that you are looking for - it allows you to configure the order in which products should appear in particular categories.
