From all the reading, there were 3 Major Issues.

1) Title Tags (not sure if fixed yet)

2) CSS/JS Speedup is turned on by Default, causing problems with the preview of the skin during installation. (minor problem, because once you install the X-Cart fully the skin will work as expected)

3) Removing Categories (works now, they released an updated version of X-Cart 4.4.2)

Overall, in my opinion X-Cart 4.4.2 seems ok as a good enough version to be used as a live website, but the major problem is the Title Tag, which is important for SEO.

I would expect QT will be able to fix that, but other than that X-CARt 4.4.2 does look good, I will be start playing with it in a week or so.

I'm trying to install 4.4.2 (the version posted late on 1/14/2011), and not only is the skin preview not working, the skin itself does not install correctly. I've also tried to install 4.4.2 manually. However, the instructions on how to do so are outdated, and the skins are not as the instructions indicate they should be.

Is anyone else having this problem? If so, how are you working through it? The skin version being installed on my server isn't really like anything I expect to be seeing, even after taking my best guess at how to install the skin manually (for example: the header is at the bottom of the page).

All further bug-fixes will be included into the next 4.4.3 release.

Yes, please give ETA if possible, I am very eager to launch my site in the next 3 months or so, and I would like it to be the least buggy as possible. Less headaches please .

Well, it MAY be usable...from my perspective, there are only two show-stopping major problems according to the thread:

1) Title Tags

2) CSS/JS Speedup is turned on by Default, causing problems with the preview of the skin during installation.

Can someone PLEASE verify whether either one of the above problems are either fixed, or have a work-around?

Does the CSS/JS Speedup work after the install?

Is the Title Tag issue only on the index page or through and entire shopping cart?

Well those small issues shouldn't really stop you from developing your site.

The problem nowadays is that, we have become greedy for features. We 'probably' don't need 70% of what x-cart package contains to sell an item on your site.

I have a site based on 4.2 and doing quite well on it. Yes there are bugs, but they never stop me from selling.
