Default Re: X-Cart v4.3.2 plugin for cPanel beta-testing

Bill,

Try to play with options "Prevent installation of addon scripts not provided by cPanel" and "Prevent installation of cPanel addon scripts that have been altered" at WHM > Server Configuration > Tweak Settings

I.e. try to enable/disable them.

Looking forward to your reply.

Alex

Thank you. I was able to get it to work now.

I will continue testing and provide further comments. First impressions:
  1. Instructions need to include that both of these WHM options need to be unchecked in 'Server Configuration->Tweak Settings':
    1. Prevent installation of addon scripts not provided by cPanel
    2. Prevent installation of cPanel addon scripts that have been altered (Turning this off may be useful when testing custom addons).
  2. Installer needs to handle permission configuration. X-Cart did not function until I manually performed:
    1. chmod 777 ${XCART_HOME}/var/tmp
    2. chmod 777 ${XCART_HOME}/templates_c
    3. chmod 777 ${XCART_HOME}/upgrade
    4. chmod 777 ${XCART_HOME}/log
    5. chmod 777 ${XCART_HOME}/cache
  3. Remove the X-Cart Hosting advertisement seen during first login to /admin. I would think most users of this cPanel installer are Web Hosting Providers who don't want the advertised competition.
  4. Installer should request admin email address in addition to admin username/password in case user's cPanel does not have a 'Contact Email' set which your installer apparently uses as cart admin email address.
  5. Installer should email login credentials to store owner.

This should work fine. We contacted cPanel support for help.

A good point! We'll remove it in next update of the package.

It is there. E-mail field should be located below "Admin Password (Again)" field.

Figuring this out with cPanel support.

Thanks ambal. I tested again and I'm not getting the permissions problem I previously reported.

I also received an email after installing cart as requested.

Everything appears to work great!

Please confirm that the url http://csync.qtmsoft.com/vendor.pl is still valid. I am receiving a 404 error message.

Yes, the URL was and is valid. I guess it was some temporal technical issue.

Has there been an ETA set for the Version 4.4 and cPanel? Our users don't want to install an older version of a product when there's a newer version out there. Thoughts on a release date for the 4.4 version?
