Default Question - Who's Mod Is This?

Look here: http://www.tradewindsimports.com/

Click the category: "- All Vanities"

Then on that page (http://www.tradewindsimports.com/bath-vanities.html)

You'll see in the left column under all the categories, a new sort by option called "All Bath Vanities".

Under it you are able to filter your result by Price, Type, Style, Size, etc... this data seems to be pulled from the Feature Comparison module or the Product Classes data which is what I am looking for.

Furthermore, if you select any of these attributes, it filters the products only with that attribute and puts at the top of the list this:

Remove Filters :

x Price: $1000 - $1500
x Material: Solid Wood

You can click the little red x and remove the filter add more, whatever. I want this mod.

I thought it was BCSE's product Advanced Filter for X-cart but after an email with them it's not. I thought it was Xcartmod's product Power Filter but after reviewing several website's claiming to have his product, it's not the one.

Anyone know who makes this mod?

BCSE's mod will do that - maybe not exactly like that, but you can tweak it.

That's the power filter you can find here: http://www.xcartmod.com/cart/product/power-filter.html

has the Power Filter mod been customized? I haven't been able to get a response from xcartmod.com for 3 days which in itself not a good sign of well supported products.

My understanding is bcse mod would need heavy modification as it uses it's own database instead of using the existing Product Classes.

The module has an option to show in the column instead of in tabs....so setting it up in admin is one of those options.

I don't think ours would need "heavy" customizations. We've done it for a few clients that needed a custom look and operation to the filtering. We built the module with less edits to X-cart as possible is why we use our own storage for the filtering.

Thanks,

Carrie

Can anyone give me an idea on how to set up the sub-categories menus like they have on this site?

I'm not sure you're going to get any help here. As you can see BCSE refutes the claim of "heavy" modification without supporting it with data or example which clearly means the product doesn't do or work how you'd expect.

Xcartmod.com still hasn't replied to 3 different emails over 2, 5, and 6-days. I'm pretty sure their products are sold "as-is" without support what-so-ever.

Redundant data entry is simply not in the cards with the number of products and product classes we have. Limiting this type of module solely to your database without allowing the option to use existing Product Classes is ridiculous. Not having a way to export or import the database information of existing product classes into your module backend interface is even more pretentious...

To set up the sub-categories under the main categories as shown on the web site in the first post is not all that difficult. My smarty knowledge is just not that good to get it without some sort of guidence. My post was in hopes of someone pointing me to a post that gives a similar example and how it was done. I know I am simplifying it but an if statement in the categories template with an include subcategories.tpl in a div class should work fairly easy. I am just a hack at this so I try to ask before I screw things up too much.

As far as your comments about BCSE I am not sure why the bash without first discussing it further or in detail with Carrie. She has always come through every time I have dealt with her.
