Default Removing the generic look of x-cart

This is the site im working on.

as you can see all i have done is added a java script menu, changed the colours and dingbat pics and added a logo. but still it looks too generic.

i want it too look more like our forums.

is there anyway that instead of having the menus as plain colours, they can be images?

i wanna turn This into This and maybe This too.
(just a rogh sketh of what i wanna try and do. so basically, i need the code for having images in the subject headers and the code to have an image behind the search box and on the opposite side... i might need some other codes too, you tell me :S

This wouldnt be difficult to do.

If you want to do this yourself then I suggest that you switch on the debug console to give you a guide as to what files need working on.

If its too much for you then you could mail me for a quote

There is no skin that you can download.

The tpl files that you would need to look at for each menu can be found in the skin1 directory and mainly have the word menu in their title. search for {$imagesDir} to get some ideas on using images.

ok if you check http://www.mayhemcomputers.com.au/customer/home.php

you will see that i got the middle title to display an image repeated over and over as the title background but im having a bit of trouble making the left menu titles have the same look?

anyone got the code for this i can use to edit?

as i said you would need to edit the menu files.

for instance. the file that holds the categories is customer/categories.tpl and the file that holds the help section is help.tpl

swicth on the debug console in general settings and you will see a list of template files being called for each page.

if you look now at http://www.mayhemcomputers.com.au/customer/home.php you will see that i have just a rough curve there. would you by chance know the code to send it to the back so the search field would appear on top of it?

My advice to you is to work with a visual editor if you are planning on making such dramatic changes to the layout and design.

There are several very good posts here in the forum about using DreamWeaver to edit your tpl files.

i tried using dreamweaver but it would only let me view the text (which i can see in the x-cart admin section anyway).

there must be someone that can just quote the required code for this...
