Default expanding and centering header, (etc)

hello,

i tried finding the same problem in recent posts, but couldn't, so i thought i'd try and describe the situation.

i just began working on my x-cart pages. i am trying to convert the details page into a much simpler page. a customer woud come to this page as a "sales desk" from our static catalogue page into which we will embed the product id link, as we did with this page.

i just began and have gotten to this point after a confusing day's work trying to mod the head.tpl template and center it, which as you will see has left the tabs as ghost images on the top left, and the header floated to the left. it seems the tabs space is still there, although not seen. i tried putting a temporary border around the tab's field just to see it, but didn't have much luck there.

i see there are header lines 1,2 and 3 in the templates, but can't seem to distinguish among them, even after fooling with each one's css, hoping each field would become obvious.

when i unhide the x-cart orange bar ( which i would like to lose) it reappears, it reappears margined to the right, the new logo centers, but it then the bar lays over the bread crumbs.

i also tried getting the product details box up near the image and couldn't keep the entire page from falling apart.

anyway, some direction with the header would be a great start. i don't mind fooling around and learning the pages. i haven't fooled with smarty yet, although i'm starting on the tutorial (any prayers with that project would be helpful)

here's the link to the test page:

http://quiltronwebsales.com/x-cart/p...roductid=17516

oh - what is the default width of the header - and each of the three columns, aside from being 100% ?

i see x-cart sample age at: www.eternalflow.biz, has the header modified to fit across the entire main container, all three columns. also the tabs remain. in some browsers they are hidden with a rollover command.

the code is very un x-cart templates, which is interesting. the header shows up very differently in diferent browsers.

thanks,

dorian

Use FF with Firebug - it will show you everything

hello,

interesting, i never thought of checking the page source. when i saw the source code for x-cart's demo page, i assumed it was a static html page for display.

i'll see how far knowing which css controls what will get me. it's a great step forward. x-cart as it is from the box, and, assuming you don't want to modify much, is fairly straightforward.

modifying its look is another story. we'll see.

i don't know if i have firebug in my ff browser. it is the current version. anyway it shows the source. even though i don't like using chrome, it has a fairly hefty txt editor.

thanks,

dorian
