How can I have a different path for the smarty tpls in the admin?

I have removed much of the font tags and invalid HTML from xcart and only then did I realise that xcart uses the same button and table files for parts of the admin as it does for the front end!

Now the admin is pretty much mashed so I need to link all tpls in the admin to a cloned xcart directory.
