Hello,

I was wondering if it was possible to manipulate the HTML catalog template in order to have the option of generating HTML pages based on subcategories.

My webstore has a lot of subcategories under the main category. Currently if I wanted to generate a HTML Catalog, I wouldn't be able to do so based on subcategories. I would have to refresh the Category which consist of at least 70 subcategories.

This takes up quite a bit of time considering all I want to do is update a couple of pages.

Wouldn't it make sense to have the option of updating specific subcategories? Has anyone managed to do something like that?

Well we used to be able to do this in 3.5.* but for some reason 4.0.* doesn't do it. I guess xcart decided we didn't need it. DUMB!

I guess we need to let them know we need this back and I see no reason why it was taken away. I, like you, use subcats and sometimes only update a few items and don't want to reload a whole category again, but rather only the subcats related to the change.

Perhaps we need this in the wish list section or as a complaint to xcart!

It seems they are spending all their time and effort for the past year on their Sales&Stats program, rather then the backbone of xcart (the shopping cart).

Why this was taken away, seems to me, it was simply easier on their end to only do main cats. And so they took the easy way out. If they have enough people wanting it back, they should do it. After all, one of the features of xcart are the ability to create many subcats. As such, they need to support carts that use this feature and rely on it. The programming is there, they simply have to apply it to the 4.0.* version.
