I'd like to use this thumbnail viewer on my front page, as well as the main categories within my site

It basically loads a seperate large layer/image on a set space using a thumbnail onMouseOver behaviour.

I want to avoid having an extremely large head.tpl and be able call custom scripts i make for each page/category.

How do I go about doing this? I'm more of a graphical designer, so Smarty and Javascript are still a bit foreign to me

Unfortunately if the script requires code in the head of the site (actually in home.tpl not head.tpl) you need to put it there. There are a lot of other image scripts that don't require JS in the head, you may want to keep searching
