Hi,

Would anybody be able to point me in the right direction of being able to post modified recommended products alongside a product description - ie. main product a cd player and 3 recommended items are, say, batteries, headphones and an adapter?

The bog standard recommended products feature doesn't seem to do anything useful. If I'm wrong, somebody please enlighten me...

Are you talking about the random x-cart generated recommended products or the upselling links? If you use the upselling links it should be a fairly easy modification....

I was talking about the recommended products, and have not even seen upselling links... I'll have a look now.

I take it upselling links do something like what I'm after?

Upselling links allow you to specify exactly which items you want to show as 'recommended'. If you modify a product, you'll see the upselling links link listed. Recommended products are generated randomly by X-Cart, so I doubt those would help you in this case.

Thanks, I had a quick look and created a related product... just what I'm after.

Presumably, as you said, the modification to give the upselling links an add to cart option won't be too difficult... any pointers in the right direction? Perhaps a thumbnail image too... and it shouldn't be hard to remove the prod ID.

Yep, there is a custom mod already done for it:

Starts out with an older version, but if you read through you will get the idea. Then you would just need to incorporate the mod IN the dialog box with the product details on product.tpl instead of below it. Good luck!
