Are they really, totally staic?

I would like to have a "Static" page, but include some php to pull some info from the DB into it. Is that at all possible?

I've tried to name the page .php, but that doesn't work. I've tried to just toss some php in, and that doesn't work.
I've tried to use {literal} and that doesnt' work.


Any help here?

Swtich Smarty parsing on then use

{php}

php code in here

{/php}

That should do it.

I do that and I get this error:

Parse error: parse error in /home/path/to/file/xcart/Smarty-2.5.0/plugins/function.eval.php(26) : eval()'d code on line 142

I'm getting an "eval'd code" error on line 4 which is:
$database_fishingconditions = "dbname";

Any idea why this would cause an error?
