Default Very strange CSS...

I've been an x-cart user for a while and always hoped it would be updated to use CSS and DIV based layouts..

Finally it does, (I'm using 4.3) and I'm shocked at how ridiculous it all seems. I don't understand why everything is set with static margins and padding.. You can't add anything into the design because nothing moves around it!

Manually finding and changing something like 8+ widths, paddings, margins, floats etc just to put a little extra bit of content below the header is absolutely insane.

I'm not CSS pro, but I know it enough to know this isn't put together in a very smart way.. and can anybody explain what the deal is with having those 200% and 50% widths for the main-container style(s)? It just ends up causing huge problems for customisation since the 'main' div is half way off the left of the page with a massive amount of padding to make up for it

My best advice, take the time to go through main.css and alt.css and remove things that are duplicated with different "settings" in both files.

I SO know your pain.

Glad to hear it's not just me!

But the question is.... do I keep the ones from main.css or alt.css when I find duplicates?

Some day the templates will be written in clean, logical, un-bloated code - but at least they aren't table-based anymore! Still, getting sick of having to rewrite the templates with each new version

Would be very handy to have at least a nicely-edited 'blank' version to start each new site with... up for the challange?

Ashley I couldn't believe the amount of css just for the buttons.. Feel like putting it through a sieve.

Have also noticed lots of issues with people getting lost with css, no wonder, and also slightly off topic, the issues users are having wanting to upgrade to latest version, seems to be mainly database issues from what I have read. (Not good).

Not only this but the size of the main css file is ridiculous. It looks like there is a sepaate class for every single element of every page.
