How do I remove the text section "News, Special, Need Help" and pink background at the very bottom of the page for template Vivid Dreams Lotus?

You could comment out your home.tpl template where news.tpl etc are located

Any idea on how to remove the pink bar/background that sits towards the bottom/middle?

The background for that area is controlled by the .block-news-links * styles in main.css (around lines 345 - 380)

Comment out the background urls and colors in the 2 styles found in that area and I think you get what you want.
