Does anyone know how to add new category fields so they can be displayed on category pages?

I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure this out! All I want to do it have a category field displayed on the page that is Different than the category name, either by creating another category field, or since I have cdseo installed, use either the cdseoLinkTitle or the cdseoTitle field value; However, I'm not quite sure how to capture this data.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Go to admin area select Product Categories under Management section,click Add New.In the Add Category section,give category name in Category option and also the position,then save.New category will create and display on category page.

You can also use 'International descriptions' if you need additional field

thanks for the replies.

Learner, I was referring to creating additional fields for categories, not create an additional category. I need an additional field other than the category name that I can add different, albeit more descriptive, information for a given category page.

Victor, "international fields"? Can you explain in a little more detail how I can use the international fields for my categories?

You can also use 'International descriptions' if you need additional field

I was wrong as 'International descriptions' provide ability to enter category description for every language of your store. But this is all about it.
Base x-cart functionality doesn't allow to add extra fields to categories so you'll need to create new table in your database and plug dialing with this table code into x-cart
