There has to be an easy way to do this? I read past posts and they say you can change it via languages. I do not have such an option.

Where is the default text typed out and how do i get to it?

Two ways to do it

1. Webmaster mode (by far the easiest) - covered well in the manual actually

2. Languages area - also covered in the manual, but here's a rough explanation. Each piece of text, or group of text on the site is stored in the db as a language variable. The 'Languages' area lets you select which variable you want to edit, and then save your changes. So for the welcome text, you'd go into the languages area, select the language of your store (I assume English for this one) and then type part of the text you are looking to edit in teh 'filter' box. That will help narrow down the list to the ones you want. Try typing 'welcome' in the filter box. Find the variable that comes up, edit it and save.
