I have looked over the forum trying to figure out how to resize the middle content of the store. It seems it is called dialog.tpl but looking at the template I can't seem to figure out how to reduce the size of it.

I need to make the middle part smaller when a category page is showing, static page, or detailed product page.

The middle part by default auto-stretches to fill the space between the left and right columns. If you wanted to change that you would need to use an {if} statement on customer/home.tpl to control the width of that table cell.
