Is there a mod that I can purchase or has someone figure out how to show random products in a category that is empty?

If a category is empty, there wouldn't be any products assigned to it.
The admin should disable an empty category.

You could assign "some" products to the empty cat as an additional category? But then it wouldn't be empty anymore, would it?

Well the trouble is the empty category URLs rank in Google and we want people to come to the site that way.

I just don't want people seeing nothing when they get there. Something like:

"This category is empty, but here are other products you might be interested in."

So put some products in there (as additional category)!
