Default EGoods - Multiple File Downloads per Product

I have a client that needs to provide multiple downloads per individual downloadable product in the store. Of course it would be typical to produce a compressed archive (.zip. .sit, etc.) that contains all of the items to be downloaded for the specific "product" but in this case, I cannot do that.

I have experimented with using a "Web Internet Location" file that contains a link to a page containing links to several files with some success but it's not always a clean transfer to the ultimate download page. The benefit I was hoping for in this method was not having to modify XCart's standard e-goods methods and just protect the download pages with a cookie's expiration.

Before I delve into the e-goods PHP scripts, does anyone have any thoughts about the best way to accomplish this task?

Thanks
John

Haven't found one that works well yet but I have had to shift gears for a bit on other matters so not much time was devoted to it since my posting.

I have to get back to it soon and will post any possible solutions but ... I was rather looking for some help here myself. I know this isn't a common issue though (not being able to stuff or zip a group of files into one download).

Regards
John

Hi all.

I am also needing to do this on one of my sites that is using X-cart pro. I need a provider to be able to split a product's files into reasonable size for download. I don't like forcing a dial-up customer to download 20mb files.

I am using X-cart pro 3.5.3 and I think that I need to edit more than just the templates to make the change. I'll post the results as soon as I finish testing it out.

Best regards,

Steve Castle

Hi again.

I completed the mod to do multiple files for each product. I made it so each product can have up to 6 files attached to it. Of course you could make it to allow more, but that's all I felt was necessary for what I'm doing.

When a customer makes a purchase of a product the site will send a download key email like before. But this time when they click on the link to the download page, the page will list links to all the files attached to the product.

Where should I post my code changes? In here or in a different category?

I am using x-cart pro 3.5.3, so the code is just slightly different than the gold version, but it should work with both.

Best regards,

Steve Castle

Thanks for working on this! I've grabbed your code and note from the other forum section and look forward to testing it out.
