I think I might already know the answer to this question, but thought I would check. I would like to add a product search box to the home page of my site. I assume this would require major modification to the design templates, and is not just question of clicking a box or adding a mod? Is that right?

There is a search box by default in xcart.

Yes there probably is - but not on my site! I think it must have been removed by the designer, but she is no longer working so now I'm wondering how to get it back?

Look in head.tpl, if you don't see the code for search in there look in skin1_original directory in the same file and you will find it
