We released today Follow up Autoresponder and now you can purchase it in our store.

During beta testing period 2 minor bugs has been reported and fixed and few typos in installation instructions.

I have been looking for a good solution for customer follow-up and came across this module. Is anyone using it and if so, what is your opinion of it? I've looked at the Mailchimp, Constant Contact, Icontact etc. Just wondering if this might be a better way to go?

Hi there, this product looks interesting to us.

We also use an email service to send a monthly email newsletter and promotions. Can you tell me how we can synchronize the customer's contact preferences? In other words, if they unsubscribe from the autoresponder system, how do we make that change happen in our newsletter service? And, if they unsubscribe via our newsletter, how do we make sure our autoresponders stop so we do not anger them?

You may need third-party list management solution for this.
Basically you asking about integrating your business processes, which is more complicated, that simple autoresponder.
People use CRM systems for such purposes (actually for more than this, but needs starts with similar requirements).

You may want to manage things from central place and do one way sync to other one.
As quick solution - add two unsubscribe links and ask customer to do this (or do this yourself).

Thank you for your reply. OK, so assuming we operated these as separate lists to subscribe/unsubscribe to, can you tell me how this is handled in your tool only? Do customers get sent an opt-in mail before getting their first responder or do you reference newsletter signup permission within the x-cart database? And if people do not want the autoresponder emails, how do they unsubscribe?

Oh, also, I see you have a trial and I'm tempted to try it and poke around. How does the trial work? is it limited in # of emails or ?

Customers are subscribed/emailed based on xcart "events" (basically places in the code where you integrate FUA - singups, orders or whatever you will want to).
Customers doesn't get any "preliminary" emails - they just receive the emails you setup in FUA admin section. You may want to setup preliminary emails there is you/your country law needs this.
Unsubscribe links are added at the bottom of each email - you insert the macro for it inside the message template.

There is test tool, so you will be able to play with each one before setting it up. There are also options to "pause" and/or "remove" each mail.

You have all the flexibility.
This flexibility brings some complexity, but give it a try - it's really powerfull.

Limited by time - you can use it for 30 days only, it will simply stop working after that period.
All teh functionality is there.
