Default Odd Size Images on Category with no Items

For whatever reason when you click on a Category that doesn't have any items the products_list shows a bunch of random items. The only problem is that the pictures are the original size as submitted when the item was created.

There are no items actually in the category

This category has 2 items

I've tried reseting both the main.css and the altskin.css files. I also reset the product_thumbnail.tpl

Any ideas guys? Or better yet why are items being list in categories that don't have any items?

My best bet is you have a module enabled that is doing it. Reason is because the thumbs on the non-product cat doesn't have the proper code that is on the product cat.
Try using debug mode to find out which tpls are involved and if settings are set so it uses something other than normal thumbnails.

I thought about that as well, but I wanted to post incase someone else had run into this before.

I ran the debug and it's coming from the Products_list.tpl which is why I reset the main.css. However that didn't work. I'll look at the modules and see what's up.

Look in products_list.tpl and look for the code where it shows the thumbnails. The one on the no-products category doesnt have the limited width on the image, so you can see which statement it is in clearly.

You guys are going to love this!!!

Ok so when I was building the Test products, I just upload the same photo to the Main Image and to the Thumbnail Image. Well X-Cart in all it's glory uses the Thumbnail image to populate the products tpl on categories with no products and on categories with products it uses a sized down version of the main image.

I had a good laugh when I realized what it was and resisted the urge to email x-cart a nasty gram.

SOLVED

REASON: STUPIDITY ON BOTH COUNTS.

CASE CLOSED

LMAO

I also found out that if yur default product thumbnail sizes are smaller than the custom sizes in the Best Seller list that it distorts the photos and makes them fuzzy. Make sure they are one in the same!
