![]() does anybody know how to reduce the filesize of images on upload?
Xcart resizes images to fit certain dimensions, but if a novice user uploads an image thats 5mb it will significantly slow the speed of the page load as the browser will still have to download the full 5mb file. Couldn't this be achieved using something like GD? Cheers. |

![]() Yep, but I don't believe any of the modules that do this have been ported over to 4.3 yet. xcartmod.com has one, but it only works on 4.1 to my knowledge.

![]() Thanks Balinor, so I guess there's no ideal solution right now, but I guess I can at least limit the file upload sizes under Administration > Images location.
That should at least prevent novice users from uploading huge files by accident! |

![]() Couldn't you just make a point to your providers about this issue, and make a link to an online image optimised filesize.
I use to do this on one of my sites and most users did use it and then you'll at least reduce the issue. (And save a bit) ![]()

![]() Hey Gizmo, good point - however in my experience as soon as you start asking people to perfom additional tasks then things go wrong!
