In x-cart admin, I have a category called 'mounts' , in that category I have META description: I update this with "abc123 etc"
when I use CDSEO, and go to the same category I look at the Meta Description field and it does not contain "abc123 etc" it contains the same desc that was there yesterday for example "def456 etc"

Any ideas why that is? - I would have thought both the xcart Admin front end and the CDSEO front end - would be looking at the same thing

I ignore the xcart enty for category meta information and use only cdseo.

You can't change it in xcart and expect cdseo to pick it ip. You would have to clear the field in cdseo and for a regen of data.

Just done some further tests. If I make a change to the xcart meta desc , save then refresh my browser - view source - it doesnt update. If I make a change via CDSEO - then the change is updated in the source html immediately.
I suppose the moral of the story is - dont use x-cart for meta descs and keywords etc - use CDSEO - or similar products, of which there are a couple available

If you have CDSEO installed and active on your site you shoud use CDSEO for all meta, url, titles.... and related info. CDSEO takes over xcart, that's why you have it

If for any reason you don't want CDSEO to overwrite your meta tags you can disable it in the CDSEO settings, but using CDSEO for your meta tags allows you to track which products do and don't have them, import/export them, etc.
