Default Fixed column Layout

Hi,

I have just purchased x-cart and I am thrilled to find a product so flexible. I am currently integrating the shopping cart into an existing site. I have read from a number of experienced people that it is easier and better for the site to be integrated into the cart and not the other way around. I love the way the current site looks and therefore I am hoping I can get away with just a handful of changes to the overall look so the user won't feel like they are leaving the site when they go shopping and can get get back to any non shopping pages.

I have already starting changing colours and I am using the same logo. I now need help from someone to tell me or give some pointers as to what I need to do to get the same centered look as the current website. I am just abit taken back with all the smarty templates. I also want to use the same navigation from the current website into a shopping index page. How do I do this?

Current website:- www.floriart.com.au

Thanks,
Kylie

in skin1/rectangle_top.tpl look for the width and put in the fixed width you want in px

as for the side columns, i believe they are defined in skin1/customer/home.tpl

Thanks for that. I have managed to match the centered layout of the current site with the new shopping index page. Can anyone tell me how to incorporate the current navigation into this index page?

My overall goal is to remove the phone number at the top right. Move the search box to where the phone number used to display and use the current navigation from the floriart home page onto the shopping index page. I am not sure how to do any of this.

Here is a link to the working progress shopping index page. Please note I have not setup any products and default books are displaying. I am keen to get the overall look accomplished before setting up real products.

Current shopping index page: www.floriart.com.au/shop

Thanks,
Kylie

the phone number is located in the skin1/customer/top_menu.tpl and for the search you may want to take a look at skin1/head.tpl and look for the search.tpl and move that over to the phone number

as for the navigation, use the speed bar tabs which can be found in top_menu.tpl as well and you can add the links in the admin section, but you may have to modify skin1/customer/tab.tpl
