ok so I wanted to make the search button value change when the customer clicked in the search box.

had this

value="Product Search" onfocus="this.value=''" onblur="this.value='Product Search'"

worked fine, made the text disappear and re-appear as expected but then the search button stopped working.

What happens if you remove the onblur bit?
