So I just installed version 4.2.0 of X-cart and I kept reading about what to edit and all, but the instructions make it seem too simple. Or is it me that is messing it up? My template is a primarily a dark site with a urban look. The layout of the store looks NOTHING like the layout of the template. So how do I plug what into what to make my little cart show a count of contents in the cart, and what file should get edited to reflect the change of the CSS. I am poking around in the directory looking at things but before I start hacking things up I want to be sure I am well armed to deal with any issues that I might encounter. I can read html and kinf of think it, but I can not speak it and I have always used a WYSIWYG editor to do web stuff. Now I have M$ Expression 2.0 plus a few of the editors that my x-cart saleslady mentioned to me to get, but I am still a bit unclear as to how to start making changes to make the items fit into a table on the left of the page and how to make them all play nicely together. I did a search or two and came up with a few hits in the forums but nothing that was really accurate. I guess the previous postings I read do not apply to version 4.2.0 (although they seemed great). Heck, if I could skin the store to look just like my template that would be good enough for starters, that way I can change out the front page and go crazy with it and then just let the store look like the front page but in its own order and as we go along we can tweak it here and tweak it there to eventually break away from the x-cart typical loadout.
