Default Static Pages

I have been reading the forums but still not clear on this.

I created a static page called Shop_by_Vendory.html but when i add the link to my navigation and view it on the site it only shows the content i added. Go to my link here: http://66.49.214.190/shop/home.php and click on "Shop By Brand" on the left side navigation to see what i mean. When i click on it from the help menu though it appears the right way. I want my links to show up SEO friendly and when it gets added to the help menu the link is not SEO friendly: http://66.49.214.190/shop/pages.php?pageid=2

Please let me know what i need to do to make the pages SE friendly. Thanks!

It will not show up as SE friendly without a mod. The .html file is only the content you created which is pulled into the overall site structure via PHP. If you want SE friendly links, you need one of the Dynamic URL mods mentioned in the Marketing and Third Party Add-Ons forums.

Is it pretty easy to install the mod? Is there one that you recommend as well? thank you balinor.

One is very easy to install, the other no so much, but they offer installation services. Price will also be a factor, as one is about 1/4 the price of the other. Lots of threads discussing the two mods both in the Marketing forum and the Third Party Add-Ons forum. Look for CDSEO and DSEFU

Just put the classes in skin.css and it will work fine.

in the static-embedded file:
<span class="class_name">content</span>
(or whatever way you want to use css)

in skin1.css:

.class_name { modifier=x; }

No different than any other html/css use.

Personally I'll go with DSEFU. They installed it in my system and works great with categories, products and static pages. Because of that my pages are ranking better . I also bought the installation from them (I think it was $25.00) and got superb service. They installed it in 20 minutes. When I did not know how to create the links for static pages I emailed them and got a response in minutes. Same with froogle export issues. Great Service!
