I have read the forum extensively and thank all of you who generously offer so much help to those of us learning.

Going out of my comfort zone I've been asked to design a site (xcart) where the homepage will act much like the catalogue with minimal navigation.

So we have thumbs on the homepage (the feature items to represent the catalogue) No product names or prices on the thumbs, just the pictures, like those t-shirt sites. My questions:

1. Can the featured items be shown as 4 across instead of 3? Where would I change that or would I use a custom template to achieve ? (I've done that with a category template)

2. I am looking at the features because bypassing the traditional homepage does not look like a good idea. Is there a limit to how may featured items are listed? (besides the obvious download issues)?

Having maybe 12 items on here might work, but more than that seems like putting your complete inventory in the showcase window. Any suggestions? (am looking to use version 4.1.6)

You can do up to 3 columns via the settings in the admin, you could easily modify it to do more by editing the products_t.tpl file and changing the section loop. As far as the limit goes, im not sure if it imposes a limit, and if it does, it wouldnt be hard to change.
