is there anyway i can remove on the shopping cart page the right hand colum for people to sign in and sign out? also to remove it from the checkout area where they are filling out their information?

i am only selling 1 item and want the page as basic as possible.

Open up customer/home.tpl and surround the right hand column code like this:

{if $main ne "cart" and $smarty.get.mode ne "checkout"}

code for column

{/if}
