Hi, I have a quick question regarding the implementation of a horizontal menu in the header.
IБ─≥m planning on creating a simple menu in the header. Because IБ─≥m not a programmer, I can only do it by manually coding all the links for all the categories that I have. I do plan on using if/then statements so I can display and highlight category links accordingly. My questions is, if I have letБ─≥s say about 50 categories, would this slow down or take up a lot of resources when I implement 50 if/then statements? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Kristiaan. |

There is a nice horizontal flyout menu in the Custom Mods forum. There is also a mod in there that highlights the current category...only one {if} statement necessary.

Thanks Padraic,
I will have a look. I've tried many different options so far and my conclusion towards JavaScript is that it is not SEO friendly at all. Remember now that I consider myself still a newbie. |

There is a fine line between Search Engine Optimization and Customer Optimization. 50 links is pretty confusing for a customer, and a site map will take care of the search engine links. The menu I'm talking about is mostly CSS anyway. There is also a pure CSS version here:

I hope that you're right about the sitemap taking care of the search engine links because Google sitemaps is spitting out weard results right now.
Of course I have to mention that I had the DSEFU mod installed by John and a complete new and different robots.txt was uploaded. |

I mean both a Google Sitemap and an html sitemap.

Yes, I do have both; a Google Sitemaps and a dynamically generated sitemap. Do you think it would be better to use like GSiteCrawler to have a pure html sitemap generated? Of course a sitemap generated with GSiteCrawler still needs some manual touch-ups to make it look more organized.
I know, I'm getting completely off topic now but I greatly appreciate your input. Thank you very much. |

As long as the links are there (and they point to the DSEFU links, not the php links) you are fine.
