Newsletter "Template" / parse php in Newsletter
Looking for some expert help and/or direction on this...
We all know the X-Cart Newsletter system is pretty bare bones, but what I need is for it to function the same way the X-Cart order notification system works. I need it to use my html_message_template.tpl template and I need it to parse php. Does anyone have any suggestions for this? What methods to y'all use to promote and include products in your promotional emails to customers? For instance, if you have a small category on sale that you want to broadcast via email and include the products pictures, price, buy_now links, etc in that email, what is your method?

Re: Newsletter "Template" / parse php in Newsletter
Use service like MailChimp (which also integrates with XC). Trying to do this with the built-in XC newsletter system will cause more issues than it will solve

Re: Newsletter "Template" / parse php in Newsletter
Steve,
Thanks for the advice. I have looked into MailChimp in the past, looks like I need to revisit. We currently have about 12,000 active user, so that will be a fun added expense each month!

Re: Newsletter "Template" / parse php in Newsletter
Yes you will have to pay something to send newsletters to 12000 emails monthly but if you try this with XC most likely site will be blacklisted or at least you'll have a lot issues doing it though XC. So the monthly fee for MailChimp will look like a very cheap solution...
