You can find out what templates are used on pages in a site quite easily with the debug tool, but is their an equivalent for HTML emails?
Is the only way to find out what templates make up a HTML email through trial and error?

check in include/func/func.order.php and you may be able to find which templates are used. Keep in mind you'll need to hunt around for a little.
