Can I just paste the code into a template and have the speedbar in the provider area? (different speedbar links than the customer side actually)

Which template/s would that be if possible?

That would call the links from the customer side speedbar. The code is pretty awful for that thing, you'd be better off building your own.

Roughly, in a nut shell, born yesterday, if an alien just landed..... What would step 1 be to add buttons in the admin side? Top.tpl or something?

I don't expect a whole lesson, but maybe a starting point.
